Biography
Laura has been a Registered Nurse for over 28 years and a Forensic Nurse Examiner for 15 years. She maintains the national certification for Adult/Adolescent/Pediatric Sexual Assault Nurse Examiner for 11 years. She received an ADN from Cardinal Stritch University and then a BSN from University of Phoenix. Currently, she is in the process of completing her DNP degree at Marquette University in Milwaukee. She is committed to Forensic Nursing and is the manager of the largest forensic nursing program in Wisconsin, the Aurora Healing and Advocacy Services program. This program primarily focuses on sexual assault survivors, but does provide services for those affected by human trafficking, domestic violence, strangulation and Drug Endangered Children (DEC). She formerly supervised a rural program and can appreciate the challenges of both. She is active in the Wisconsin Chapter of the IAFN and previously was Director at Large and President of the Board on two occasions. She has been involved with teaching forensic nursing both on the state and national level. She has been called upon to provide expert testimony for strangulation cases. She is a lifelong learner and supports growth and development of fellow nurses. She is also active on her local SART as well as Wisconsin’s Attorney General SART. She is also involved with community partners and is the President of the board of the CAC’s of Wisconsin (Child Advocacy Centers of Wisconsin). One of Laura’s strengths is the ability to collaborate and her love for working and learning from others.
